The Berlin Boroughs
Berlin can be broken up into 6 general districts, each comprising one or more boroughs. No borough is exactly alike and each has a distinct vibe/feeling that goes along with it. Technically, some of these boroughs for legislative purposes have been combined (example: Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg), although we separate them for clarity.
The main areas that visitors generally stay in are Mitte, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauer Berg and Tiergarten. With any large city, each area can feel very different from one another. Because the city was divided for so long, these differences can be magnified in Berlin. We recommend reading about each area to find one that suits you and the activities you have planned for your Berlin trip.
As you can see below, we’ve created pages for the most popular areas in Berlin. While the areas that are not linked may not have many attractions, it’s more probable that we just haven’t gotten there yet.
