Görlitzer Park, also known as “Görli” is one of the major parks and recreational areas in Berlin, Kreuzberg. Covering over 35 acres (14 hectares), it provides a children’s area, playing fields and small lake. In the summer residents rush here to soak up the sun, drink beer and barbecue.
Görlitzer Park is generally known as one of the main drug hubs in Berlin. Up until recently, there were a considerable amount of drug dealers selling their wares throughout the park. During 2014 and 2015, the police stepped up enforcement of the park and while the drug problem has not been completely eliminated, it has improved.
Berliners generally don’t think the problem is too serious. If someone approaches you in Berlin and offers you drugs, just decline and keep walking. Enjoy the park, the sunshine (hopefully) and all that it has to offer.
